Early in the season, hand-picked whole-bunch Pinot Noir from Mornington was wild-fermented. Later, cool-climate destemmed Syrah from Macedon was layered on top for a rolling co-ferment. Matured in old French oak for élevage, the result is a moreish, light-on-its-feet blend with notes of strawberry milk, chocolate, and violet.

“A Mornington and Macedon joint. Pinot picked from Mornington was fermenting away when syrah from Macedon came along and joined in for a rolling ferment.
A slurp to texture, a bloody, game meat pulse in sour cherry, pomegranate juice, watermelon rind, white pepper and some truffle notes. Fun, quiet complexity, layers on layers, good energy, cool finish and a little hazy plushness. The lifted, somewhat herbal notes here do rise, and there’s some beetroot and rhubarb on as well. In all that, quite authentic to an energetic mesh of the two varieties, and ease of drinking is here for sure.”
