Grown at 530 masl on pink granite high in the Macedon Ranges, this Syrah and Cabernet is hand-picked and wild-fermented. The Syrah (around 50%) was whole-bunch fermented for a month, then matured in old French oak for élevage, while the co-planted Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc were destemmed and aged in stainless steel for over a year. Blended before bottling, the result is a juicy, fragrant wine, showing notes of raspberry, pink pepper, and earth.

“This is sourced from Macedon Ranges. The dynamic duo behind these wines once had separate brands, now combined as a Shazam super power. Some cabernet franc in the cabernet part of this, and syrah makes up half the wine.
Juicy is as juicy does. A good swish of tart cherry, cranberry drink, cherry cola, white balsamic lift pretty evident here making for a very perky, crisp red wine with a touch of white wine sensibiltity. Green herbs, a little shiitake mushroom, some picked walnuts and green olive too. Nice play, fresh red, a bit edgy, but quite nice in that way and has that sense of deglazing the palate as you drink. It likely polarises as such, but as a fresh-un, it works good.”
